Getting Started
Welcome to Joey Wallet
Developer documentation for integrating Joey Wallet, the self-custody wallet for the XRP Ledger.
Joey Wallet is a self-custody wallet for the XRP Ledger (XRPL). Users hold their own keys, and every transaction your app asks for is reviewed and approved by the user in Joey.
Joey is available in two places, and you can support both:
| Browser extension | Mobile app | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | Chrome and other Chromium browsers | iOS and Android |
| How your app connects | Injected provider, via @joeywallet/wallet-sdk |
WalletConnect, via @joey-wallet/wc-client |
| Best for | Desktop web apps | Mobile web, and desktop apps paired by QR code |
Not sure which to use? See Choose an integration.
Why integrate Joey?
- Self-custody. Keys are generated and kept on the user's device. Joey never sees them, and neither does your app.
- Clear signing. Users see a review of what each transaction will do before they approve it.
- Fast settlement. XRP Ledger transactions settle in 3–5 seconds for a fraction of a cent.
- Built for the XRPL. Payments, trust lines, the DEX and AMMs, NFTs, and batch transactions.
Get started
- Building for desktop browsers? Start with the browser extension quick start.
- Building for mobile, or already using WalletConnect? Start with the WalletConnect quick start, or add Joey to an existing WalletConnect project.
- Testing? Both integrations support XRPL Mainnet, Testnet and Devnet. Use Testnet while you build.
Note
A new XRP Ledger account must hold a base reserve of XRP before it is active. See the XRPL reserves documentation for current values.
